Ngila means girl, and this painting is of a young girl.
I grew up being a little bush Ngila in Borroloola. I was the youngest of 6 kids during the first time we lived there. This meant I got to spend my childhood being out bush, learning about my culture and playing with my never ending supply of siblings and cousins.
I often reflect on how much I have changed from being that little bush Ngila in Borroloola to who I am now. Although I am older and wiser, I still have a lot in common with my younger self as we both have a deep connection to country and cherish times being surrounded by family, culture and nature.
